In the early 1960s an area of land in Thompson Falls that was owned by the Washington Water Power Company was provided freely for the construction of a nine-hole golf course. The resultant Rivers Bend Golf Course opened for play in August of 1962, and the inaugural foursome consisted of Bert VanCampen, Chris Stobie, Richard Thiegs, and Don Peterson.
As the name alludes, the winding Clark Fork River gives the course character, not to mention a natural water hazard. Located in western Montana, the Rivers Bend Golf Course is undeniably beautiful and a solid spot to play nine-holes. There’s also a good chance golfers will experience an eagle while on the links, of course it might be of the bird variety. The course itself has small challenging greens and tree lined fairways that can test a golfers skills.
