The Old Baldy Golf Course in Townsend was established in 1973. Until 1988 this nine-hole course was one of the last courses in the state to use sand greens (which is a mixture of sand and oil). Named after a nearby mountain, the Old Baldy Golf Course might not have sand greens anymore, but it’s still a very unique course in Montana in that it works on an honor code system with no reservation requirements.
Located just south of Canyon Ferry Lake, golfers will have excellent views of the Big Belt mountain range. The course itself is well-groomed and known for it’s small “postage stamp” greens.
