About Butte CC

When it comes to historical relevance and influence over the game of golf in Montana, very few courses can compare to the Butte Country Club. It is the only course in Montana to have formed in the 19th century and has spent 125 years operating as one of the premier tournament golf clubs in the state. Not only was it the first course built in the state, but also the site where the Montana State Golf Association was formed in 1917 along with the first State Amateur.

Much can be said about the history of the club: It started out with sand greens and eventually the state’s first grass greens, had a clubhouse burn down in the 1940s, and even once saw Evel Knievel and boxing legend Joe Louis team up for a tournament in the 1970s. Along the way the club has continued its tradition of serving the golf community in this state, having hosted numerous high school, college, and MSGA events.

With outstanding views of the nearby mountain ranges, the Butte Country Club is a challenging par-70 course that is kept in good condition. With mature trees and a variety of hazards it will test the skills of any golfer.
