In 1963 a group of local leaders organized the construction of the Beaverhead Golf Course. Built on a former alfalfa field, golf enthusiasts from Dillon spent every Sunday from April to October helping get the town’s first nine-holes up and running. The first President of the Beaverhead Golf Club, Jack Roberts, told golfers “After church put on your work clothes and come out to the new golf course site with your rake and shovel.” With a lot of hard work, the course was completed in the fall of 1963.
With the spectacular Blacktail Mountain Range in the background, the Beaverhead Golf Course is a walkable nine-holes with poplar, pine and willow trees lining the fairways and a small creek running throughout. It’s one of the premier nine-hole courses, and perhaps the most scenic in the Treasure State.
